Let’s Go: Dupage County, IL

A must-visit summer hot spot near Chicago

Located just 20 miles outside of Chicago, DuPage County in Illinois has transformed itself into a must-visit summer hot spot, offering a unique blend of nature and art. With its captivating new Andy Warhol Exhibit and a plethora of community activities, Dupage County is the perfect summer destination for Chicagoans. I loved exploring the artistic wonders and natural beauty that make DuPage County an enchanting summer getaway.

DuPage County proudly hosts a new, captivating Andy Warhol exhibit that art enthusiasts cannot afford to miss. The Andy Warhol Portfolio exhibition celebrates the iconic pop art of Andy Warhol with over 90 pieces of art, a Studio 54 installation, and even a pop art factory for kids. From the vibrant colors to the thought-provoking imagery, the exhibit offers a new way to experience the art of Warhol.

DuPage County's commitment to bringing art to life is exemplified through various local businesses participating in all things Warhol-related. With art and culture on our minds, we stopped at Juice and Berry in Roselle, where you can enjoy a delicious Warhol-inspired smoothie. They have a variety of superfoods and juice cleanses that will give you a fresh start for the rest of your trip.

Not to be outdone, wine aficionados can indulge their senses at Lynfred Winery, where they are serving a special Warhol-inspired wine. Raise a glass to toast the creativity of Andy Warhol while relishing the flavors of the locally produced wine. The Malbec-Syrah inspired by Warhol’s love of women is quite a treat with notes of rose and blueberries, so get it before it’s gone! The winery itself is lovely, offering various tastings and a small Bed & Breakfast on site. Lynfred Winery's fusion of art and winemaking creates a truly unique experience.

Nestled within the forests of DuPage County, the Morton Arboretum is a breathtaking outdoor haven for nature enthusiasts. To add to the county's art-themed summer, the arboretum features a new exhibit called Of The Earth, showcasing the work of Polish sculptor Olga Ziemska, who artfully blends her statues with the surrounding natural beauty. Using reclaimed wood and other natural materials, the sculptures give new life and form to the wood, which is so beautiful. Stroll along the paths and immerse yourself in the harmony of art and nature.

If you are like me and need coffee or tea to function, check out BrewPoint Coffee in Elmhurst. This female and minority-owned establishment not only serves excellent coffee but also acts as a hub for creativity and collaboration. Sip on a meticulously crafted latte while supporting a local business that embodies the spirit of DuPage County.

DuPage County offers a summer experience like no other, where the convergence of nature and art creates a magical atmosphere. From the captivating Warhol Exhibit to the strong sense of belonging around every corner, this destination beckons Chicagoans to explore its unique offerings. Whether you've come for a little R&R or to find inspiration for your next creative project, DuPage County guarantees an unforgettable summer experience. Pack your bags and bring your friends and friends to this captivating Illinois gem.
