Let’s Go To St. Louis
48-Hours in St. Louis | The perfect quick getaway from Chicago.
If you are looking for a quick weekend getaway and a short road trip from Chicago with friends. Then St. Louis may be the perfect travel destination for you. Only four hours from Chicago, St. Louis offers iconic landmarks, fun activities, baseball games, spa accommodations, and a guaranteed fun time on the banks of the Mississippi.
Here is a rundown of our 48-hour road trip from Chicago to St. Louis. If you’re on a girl’s weekend or looking for a romantic getaway with your partner, consider staying at the Four Seasons St. Louis. The resort-style hotel sits right in the middle of the entertainment district and comes with breathtaking skyline views of both the Mississippi River as well as the unmatched Gateway Arch.
The Four Seasons will blow you away any time of the year, but if the weather is suitable, then check out their Sky Terrace for poolside cabanas and dining alfresco. The food here is spectacular. The Cinder House on-site specializes in South American-inspired dishes and cocktails in a contemporary dining room.
With a James Beard award-winning chef, the menu is a mix of seasonal international flavors sure to please any palate. Whether you decide on ceviche, lamb, or Filet Mignon you are in for an experience.
We love a great glass of wine and it’s always nice when you can be in the presence of one of the best sommeliers in the country. Award-winning Advanced Sommelier Alisha Blackwell-Calvert provided spot-on selections and perfect pairings, a highly recommended experience!
If you’re looking to capture the local St. Louis food scene but are short on time, head over to The City Foundry. It has local shops, entertainment destinations, and live music. The Food Hall is home to an eclectic mix of local eats sure to indulge any craving. There are so many options but a few of our favorites were Patty’s Cheesecakes, Fordo’s Killer Pizza, and Poptimism!
Another fun St. Louis' destination to check out is Armory STL. It’s a huge bar, the biggest one in the St. Louis area actually, with yard games as far as the eye can see. The six acres of indoor space have it all! Six huge bar areas and over 40 different games and activities, including a two-story slide on site!
Let’s discuss shopping….a very important topic for our girl’s weekend. Everyone we met told us to stop in Hearth + Soul, a relatively new shop in Ladue. It felt like we stepped into someone’s gorgeous home and we wanted everything. The locally crafted jewelry and clothing were such a nice touch. Hearth and Soul supports local artisans and we loved helping support them! The area of Webster has great boutique shopping as well.
There is so much to do in St. Louis. Whether you take in the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the St. Louis Art Museum, or historic Union Station, it is all right at your fingertips.
We capped off our trip with the perfect girls’ night out dinner at Olive and Oak. Located in Webster Groves, this place has that cozy neighborhood feel written all over it. And it isn’t just the vibe and the creative cocktails that drive this place, they pair your drinks with some amazing eats crafted with local proteins and farmer’s market supplies.
Not to mention, Olive and Oak is regularly featured for its craft cocktail creations and regularly hosts wine dinners! A definite must-stop when in town.
St. Louis is the perfect blend of culture and style. The Four Seasons St. Louis was luxury personified and the food and drinks along the way were unrivaled, we’ll definitely be back to try the abundance of things we couldn’t fit into our weekend!
