Let’s Go: GoPro

Ziplining through the Redwood Forest in Sonoma County sounded amazing. My girlfriends and I wanted our weekend getaway full of adventure with a little bit of Sonoma wine time sprinkled in throughout the weekend. So, I booked the Sonoma Canopy Tour activity in Occidental California. I love adventure travel so much and was really looking forward to this experience in Sonoma County for our girls weekend in California.

Filmed with the GoPro Hero 9 and Edited in the GoPro Quik App (download the app on your phone!)

What I did not expect was to have so many emotions that day ziplining through the Redwoods. I am a leader on the ground naturally (for the most part) but apparently not a very good leader in the air. Fear came over me instantly... I checked with the guide ten times before I jumped off the platform… "Are you sure I am hooked up correctly?" was a common question I asked every time we stepped onto a new platform. The more I ziplined (there were 7 lines) the more comfortable and trusting I became with our activity. My friends and I cheered for each other as we made it to each platform. I began smiling naturally again instead of the concerned face I pull out when I am....concerned. Dunovan was our leader, Caroline was the steady comforting voice and I was delivering jokes to make us all laugh along the way. Just like the old days for us! It was such a great bonding experience for three friends / moms who needed a break from our normal routines.

At first I hated it. Then, I loved it. And at the end, I would do it all over again! Thankfully, I captured our friendship and experience with my GoPro Hero 9 and edited it on my Quik App. I will cherish this video because it reminded me to challenge myself more often in life. It also taught me to stop doing ugly cries when I am nervous and to hug trees more often when feeling insecure in a forest.

We laughed, we cried and we flew through the sky! The best part about this Sonoma adventure was spending the night in the tree house with my two best friends...(who may or may not have smuggled in a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from Bricoleur Vineyards). I will cherish this adventure in Sonoma County forever....Thanks to GoPro for helping us capture the moment and the magic of our very special friendship.
